Coming off the biggest win of his career, Mexican superstar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (50-1-2, 34 KOs) is looking to return to the ring as soon as possible.

Last Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Canelo won a twelve round majority decision over undefeated middleweight king Gennady Golovkin to capture the WBC, WBA world titles.

The fight was a rematch of their fight from September 2017, which ended in a twelve round split draw.

Golden Boy Promotions President Eric Gomez, who promotes Canelo, told BoxingScene.com a few days ago that his company has already reserved the MGM Grand and Madison Square Garden for the boxer's possible fight on December 15.

Canelo sustained a cut during the fight with Golovkin and had to get several stitches.

"I want to keep active. Personally, I want to fight in December; tomorrow, Saturday. I'm going to have my stitches removed with a surgeon here in Guadalajara, and they will give me their point of view [on a fight with December], but my aim is to fight in December," said Canelo to ESPN Deportes.

In the same tone, minutes before, trainer Eddy Reynoso had confirmed that same interest.

"I was with Saul, the cut is no problem, tomorrow the stitches are taken away. He's going to take a week's vacation and he's going to report to the gym, and we'll be ready by December, let's talk to the people of Golden Boy to see what's out there on the table," said the Mexican coach.

The frontrunner to face Canelo is former IBF world champion David Lemieux, who on the same card last weekend scored a knockout victory in the first round over Spike O'Sullivan. Their contest was sanctioned as a WBA world title eliminator. Both Canelo and Lemieux are promoted by Golden Boy - which makes the deal easy to complete.
