Yesterday, BoxingScene.com and other members of the media spoke to former WBC/WBA junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez who is just days away from his pay-per-view showdown against Alfredo Angulo.

When Canelo was last in the ring, he suffered his first career loss when he faced Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the largest grossing pay-per-view event in boxing history. Even though the loss technically was a majority decision loss, in reality it wasn't that close.  He said that he learned a lot from the fight and that he is very eager to get back in the ring.

"I am a lot hungrier now.  I am very anxious to get back in the ring.  I learned a lot from that fight.  It gave me a lot of experience.  I am anxious to get back on that path I was on before that fight," said Alvarez.

The fight against Mayweather was fought at a catchweight of 152 pounds.  Even though Alvarez agreed to the lower weight, he admitted it was a struggle to lose the extra two pounds and said that he feels a lot better at the full junior middleweight limit.

"I feel a lot better knowing that I only have to get to 154.  I am lot more relaxed.  154 is my weight.  I feel a lot better at this weight," Alvarez revealed.

Early this year it was reported that Alvarez is looking to fight three times in 2014. The tentative plan is for Alvarez to fight in July and November after this Saturday's fight.  When I asked Alvarez if he still wanted to fight three times this year, he said that is still his goal but also mentioned that the plan can change at any moment.

"The plan is to fight three times this year but you know that can change after one fight.  It could be three fights or two fights (this year).  We don't know for sure but the plan is three right now," Alvarez told BoxingScene.com.
