Mexican superstar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez is a very happy man, according to trainer Eddy Reynoso.

The coach revealed that Canelo underwent a post-fight medical checkup in his hometown of Guadalajara and the boxer is 100% physically ready to go forward with the planned fall showdown with IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin.

The fight was announced this past Saturday night for September 16th, with a venue to be determined at a later date.

Canelo was in action last Saturday night, when he dominated country rival Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. over twelve rounds at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

It was the first fight for Canelo since suffering a bad injury to his right hand last September, when he knocked out Liam Smith to capture the WBO junior middleweight title before a crowd of over 51,000 fans at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.

During the contest with Chavez Jr., Canelo unloaded with hard punches all night. It was a one-sided contest that saw Chavez Jr. take punishment all night long.

"We had the physical examinations today, as is customary after each fight. Canelo is in perfect condition after the fight on Saturday, there is no discomfort, the hands are perfectly fine and we will be more than ready for September," said Reynoso to ESPN Deportes.

Reynoso had previously stated that Canelo will rest for only two weeks and would immediately begin work for the fight with Golovkin. 

Canelo, along with his team of Eddy and Chepo Reynoso, are expected to travel to Los Angeles to define all the details of the GGG fight, which could take place in Las Vegas, Texas, New York or Los Angeles. The training for this fight will take place in Los Angeles, In recent years, the camps had taken place in San Diego.
