Eddy Reynoso, the head trainer of Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, does not embrace the possibility of having his boxer face undefeated Jaime Munguia in 2020 of 2021.

Munguia recently moved up the middleweight division with the hope of eventually facing Canelo.

Canelo and Reynoso have not really been in favor of facing another Mexican boxer - especially a young contender on the rise.

They would rather see Munguia make a name for himself to propel his career to a certain level. He also ruled out, for the moment, facing Mexican fighters like David Benavidez and Gilberto Ramirez - although he could see Benavidez and Ramirez in the future.

"Not really, [I would not want use to face Mexican fighters], we are looking for other things, other types of champions. I highly respect the careers of the three of them, I would like him to fight with Benavidez, he is an explosive fighter, a fighter who can give good fight, then 'Zurdo' Ramírez is a great fighter, but he is inactive, I think he has been a year without a fight. And Jaime Munguía is at 160, he is just entering at 160 and we are at 168. We would like to fight with fighters from another country, not Mexicans," Reynoso said to ESPN Deportes.

Regarding Munguia in particular, Reynoso broke down his reasoning for rejecting that scenarion.

“Jaime lacks the experience to face Saúl. He is a disciplined fighter who is just coming up. He has a very good coach, Erik [Morales] is helping him, he brings a good promoter, so little by little he is going to go very far, but a confrontation with Saúl would not suit either of them. He needs more maturity, more experience, and apart from that we are about to go up to 168. It will be difficult thing to face him," Reynoso said.
