At the Don Haskins Convention Center in El Paso, Texas, Hector Camacho Jr. (50-3-1, 27 KOs) avenged his father by winning a ten round split decision over Yory Boy Campas (92-15-1, 74KOs) in a middleweight contest. Campas, a long time veteran of the game, fought to a draw with Hector Camacho Sr. in May. The scores were 95-92, 96-91 for Camacho and 95-92 for Campas.

Both promised a knockout and instead we got a snoozer. Camacho went the "John Ruiz" route by holding and hitting in many spots. Campas did plenty of holding of his own. He grew very old in this fight. I think retirement is calling him. Cmacho was frustrated with Campas' rough tactics and lost three points during the course of the fight. A low blow in the third, a punch after the bell in the fourth and for holding in the tenth.
