They don't agree on much, but British welterweight rivals Amir Khan (29-3, 19KOs) and Kell Brook (32-0, 22KOs) are in agreement that a fight between the two of them would produce a massive event on UK soil.
When super middleweight rivals Carl Froch and George Groves collided in a rematch back in May - 80,000 fans packed Wembley Stadium to watch them settle their differences.
Before the ball can get rolling, Brook has to overcome IBF champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15KOs on August 16th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
During a recent interview in the UK, Khan voiced his opinion on a fight with Brook - if he beats Porter - and firmly believes the match would create a Froch-Groves type of frenzy among the British fans.
"Not many fighters would go away from home against Porter and, if Kell wins, it would put him straight in the big time. It would then definitely make sense for me and Kell to fight. We saw what Froch and Groves did at Wembley with 80,000 fans. We can also do that," Khan told The Guardian.
Brook agrees. Their rivalry has played out very publicly for the last few years. And that rivalry, says Brook, is the perfect fuel to produce another major fight in the UK.
"I believe so, I believe so [that it can be like Froch-Groves]. A win over Porter gives me a world title and opens all the doors at the elite level...international fights and even a fight with Amir Khan. I think everybody will grab on to that fight and it will be a huge fight like Groves-Froch because there's no love lost between me and Khan," Brook told BoxingScene.com.
