Undefeated former world lightweight champion Brandon Rios is hungry to get revenge on his Cuban rival Richard Abril. This Saturday at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Rios (29-0-1, 22 KOs) will face Abril (17-2-1, 8 KOs) for the vacant WBA lightweight title.
A few weeks ago in Miami, and this past Monday in Los Angeles, hostilities quickly broke out and they had to be separated by their respective camps. Abril believes he already secured the mental edge with the pre-fight drama, but Rios appears to be motivated by their altercations and he wants to punish Abril in the ring.
"I haven't forgot about getting my face touched. Hopefully he knows that I haven't forgot. He better be ready because I'm going to be ready. This motherf****er better be ready. Don't touch my face and get away with it....no, no, no. In the ring...yeah. Outside the ring...no. I'm going to bring excitement. I'm going to bring a war and if he doesn't want a war, then I'll make him fight a war. If he's thinking about running, I'm going to make him fight me. I'm ready and hopefully he's ready," Rios told BoxingScene.com.
