WBC junior welterweight champion Timothy Bradley believes what many believe - that boxing should only have one champion in each respective weight division. On the tentative date of April 4, on Showtime, Bradley will take the first step in unifying the 140-pound division when he meets WBO champion Kendall Holt.

On December 13, Bradley sat ringside in Atlantic City and watched Holt make the first defense of his title by winning a decision over previously unbeaten Demetrius Hopkins. Bradley told BoxingScene.com’s Jose “OnFire” Aguirre that he was very impressed with the performance of Holt.

“He impressed me by adapting. He changed his gameplan at the last minute. His timing was a little bit off because of the height of Hopkins, but he was aggressive. He threw some great bodyshots and slowed Hopkins down. He fought a great fight. He took the fight to Hopkins and that's what won the fight,” Bradley said.

Holt is the first step. After Holt, Bradley plans to target the other champions at the weight. He says the fight with Holt will be an exciting shootout between two young champions.

“I'm looking forward to fighting Kendall Holt next. He's going to put his title on the line, I'm going to put my title on the line. We are two exciting fighters. We're young. We are both hungry. We're ambitious to be great in boxing and it's going to be a great fight for the fans,” Bradley said.

“Unifying the titles, I believe boxing needs one champion in each weight class. A true champion. An undisputed champion. By doing this, I'm eliminating the belts one at a time. When I win the fight, I want to go after another belt holder or another big fight.”
