Riddick ‘Big Daddy’ Bowe has been speaking to World Boxing News ahead of his planned return to boxing and in the first part of our interview, the former undisputed heavyweight champion gave Britain’s best contender at the weight a verbal jab or two.
The 44 year-old American is expecting to get back in the ring early in 2012 and is hoping to gain a crack at one of the world title holding Klitschko brothers’ after proving himself in some warm-up bouts.
Former WBA beltholder David Haye is currently negotiating with WBC champion Vitali Klitschko for a bout in March. Bowe predicts the same outcome as recently seen between Haye and Vitali’s younger brother Wladimir, who won a lopsided twelve round decision in Hamburg this past July.
“(Wladimir) Klitschko beat him down when they just fought,” Bowe told World Boxing News.
“I think a fight between Vitali and Haye is a waste of time because it will be the same fight as before.
“(Vitali) Klitschko is too big for David Haye and Haye will not go hard from the last fight to this fight.”
New York-born Bowe famously fought a trilogy with Evander Holyfield in the 1990’s but has fought just five times in fifteen years since and it will be interesting to see how much the once great champion has left after another lengthy absence.
