"Just talked to the lawyers (Daniel Petrocelli and David Moroso), the lawyers are handling it. It's not a surprise, at least (Haymon's) surfaced."

For months, Arum, believed that Haymon was buzzing in the ear of Chavez Jr, who has not fought since March, when he won a decision in his rematch victory against Bryan Vera). Since that point in time, Top Rank has made various attempts to make significant fights for the son of the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez have failed, most notably a summer clash against Gennady Golovkin and the rift between the two parties has widened.

As for a possible contractual buy-out to walk away from Chavez Jr. Arum said:

"I mean, we're in litigation, we've been in litigation and now Haymon's come to the forefornt and we'll see what we see."

Arum maintains that his company has one fight left in it's promotional agreement with Chavez Jr., who claims the contract expired at the end of September.
