Cruiserweight contender BJ Flores (31-1) is eagerly awaiting his return to the ring. Flores returned to the ring after an 18 month hiatus to go 3-0 last year with two of his victories coming by knockout.
"I've been working extremely hard on my strength and conditioning for the last 5 weeks and I am focused and ready to have a big 2015. I had my three fights last year after being off for 18 months which got me back in the swing of things. My first fight in 2015 is going to be a big fight," said Flores.
The Las Vegas based fighter said that even though he hasn't officially started training camp for his next fight, he is already in tip top condition. Flores said that he has been doing more than just boxing training to make sure his stamina and endurance are where they need to be.
"I am working very hard, two times a day. From lifting and plyos and sprints, distance running and boxing training. I've been doing all kinds of different things to make sure I am explosive and in as great as shape as I can be for my first fight of 2015," Flores told BoxingScene.com.
Flores said that he doesn't have an opponent or a date yet but that he is hoping to be back in the late spring and that he is confident he will get a big fight. Flores is highly ranked by most of the sanctioning bodies and is on the cusp of a title shot.
"I am ready to fight whoever they decide to put in front of me and I have a feeling that it is going to be someone that will be able to do a lot for my career when I come out with a victory.
"Whoever my first fight of 2015 is, is going to see the best of me. I've already been grinding for 5 weeks with vigorous workouts. I've been torturing myself to make sure I am ready for this training camp and I can't wait to get back in the ring and take it out on whoever is in the ring with me," Flores warned.
The 36-year-old Flores has been on the comeback trail since losing an unanimous decision to then champion Danny Green in 2010. He has reeled off 7 consecutive victories since that defeat and has signed with powerful adviser Al Haymon who has gotten his career back on track.
"I had three easy fights last year to get back in the swing of things and now I am ready to get tough fights this year and make a splash in the division. 2015 will be my year," said Flores.
Flores also is part of the NBC broadcast team for Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions series and said that he is truly honored to be part of the star-studded lineup.
"I am very excited with what PBC is doing and to be part of the PBC broadcast team along with Marv Albert, Al Michaels, Sugar Ray Leonard and the rest of the team. This is huge for boxing, a step in the right direction. I couldn't be more happy with boxing back on network TV. It is going to give America a chance to get familiar with these guys who are fighting. They all have great stories," Flores told BoxingScene.com.
Expect an announcement on Flores upcoming fight soon.
