Two and a half years after their first fight, junior middleweights Bakary Samake and Lucas Bastida have scheduled their sequel.

Samake-Bastida II will take place on October 25 at the Palais des sports Marcel Cerdan, according to a social media post by Samake Promotions. The arena in Paris is named after the famed French middleweight champion who was killed in a plane crash in 1949 at just 33 years old.

Samake was 10-0 at the time when he widely outpointed the 19-2-1 Bastida in March 2023. The scores read 99-90 (twice) and 97-92.

Samake, a 21-year-old from the suburban community of Aubervilliers, has added another seven victories since, moving to 18-0 (10 KOs). In his last outing, Samake scored an eighth-round knockout in April over the 17-2-1 Roarke Knapp. Samake is ranked fourth by the WBC at 154lbs.

Bastida, a 28-year-old from Mar del Plata, Argentina, hasn’t been as active or as successful as Samake following their first outing. He has fought four times, going 3-1, losing in his most recent appearance via ninth-round TKO to the 10-0 Pavel Sosulin in April. Bastida is unranked by the four major sanctioning bodies.
