The winner of tonight's rematch between Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito could become a leading contender to face WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Cotto and Margarito are fighting for the WBA's junior middleweight title in the main event of a stellar card at New York's Madison Square Garden in New York City.

A bigger fight for Chavez would be a Mexican super-match with WBC 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. Making the fight is difficult, with Alvarez's promoter, Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy, requesting a weight limit of 156-pounds. Chavez requested a max of 158.

"I think both of them (Cotto and Margarito) want that fight," said Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, who promotes Chavez, Cotto and Margarito. "And I think we realize that we can't make the fight with Canelo because of the weight."
