Tshephang Mohale who hogged the headlines for all the wrong reasons after getting arrested while celebrating his stunning second round stoppage defeat of Johnny Muller last month will be back in action on August 29 at Emperors Palace in South Africa.

The dual SA champion who also holds the super middleweight crown moved up a division to challenge then unbeaten Muller for his light heavyweight title and scored a brutal second round defeat to lift the crown on the undercard of Flo Simba-Francois Botha clash at Emperors Palace on June 4.

While celebrating the stunning win in his locker room police pounced on him and bundled him at the back of the van and took him to a nearest police station where he was charged for stealing a cell phone.

He spent his big moment behind bars and was only released on bail the following day.

It later transpired that he was actually innocent of the charges as he bought the cell phone from someone not knowing that it had been stolen.

His promoter Rodney Berman of Golden Gloves Promotion (GGP) threatened not to bill him in his tournaments again if he was found guilty of the charges.

But after Mohale’s charges were dropped and has been exonerated, Berman says the towering dual champion who is yet to make a decision about which title he will keep, will be rewarded for his stunning victory over Muller with an eighth round non-title bout against Ryno Liebenburg on August 29.

“What happened to Mohale (8-3, 7 Kos) after his great victory over Muller was unfortunate as he did not get a chance to properly celebrate his stunning win,” Berman said.

“This is one of the reasons we decided to bring him back and hopefully this time he will celebrate properly if he beats Liebenburg.”
