Graeme George, the mentor of IBO middleweight champion Daniel Geale, has called Anthony Mundine a "boxing bum" who stands no chance of being able to beat his fighter on Wednesday in Brisbane. George put gloves on the unbeaten Geale at the age of 14 at the Rocherlea Boxing Club the Launceston suburb where Geale grew up.
Mundine is a heavy favorite to win. Geale had 160 amateur bouts, won a gold medal at the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games and sports a record of 21-0, 13KOs. George has no respect for Mundine, or his big mouth.
"He's a bum as far as boxing goes. He should have stuck to football because he is going to get beat here big time,'' George said to the AFP. "But I'm more than happy for Mundine to come to me after the fight, I will give him a few tips on boxing skills because he just hasn't got any. The fight can only go one way ... Daniel's."
George says that his fighter is going to shock Mundine and stands a very good chance of winning the fight by knockout.
"If Mundine treats it like a muck-around fight then he's in for a big shock because there is no way in the world that Daniel Geale is going out there to lose. If there is a knockout punch there, Daniel will deliver it. If it doesn't come up, he will out-point him,'' George said.
"We talk about how he is feeling and the technical aspects of his job - all the hard work is done. He'll be focused and aware of what he has to do as the adrenaline races."
