Mexico's Alfredo "El Perro" Angulo (20-1, 17KOs) refused to discuss a future fight with the WBC's junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. Angulo has a tough fight ahead, with big banger James Kirkland (29-1, 26KOs) on November 5th at the Convention Center of Cancun, Quintana Roo. The winner of the HBO televised clash is going to become the WBC's mandatory challenger to Alvarez's title.
"Of course we want to face the world champion, but right now I can't think about that.....because first I have to win this fight by beating Kirkland. I have a set fight against a good oppponent and he's going to be a tough hurdle to remove from my path," Angulo said. "First let me win this fight, then we'll talk about Canelo. Kirkland is a very hard puncher. It's no accident that he knocked out 26 of his 29 victims, and only has a single loss. To talk about Canelo right now...why?"
