Leon Margules of Warriors Boxing, who promotes Polish light heavyweight contender Andrzej Fonfara (25-3, 15 KOs), sees big things ahead for his boxer. On Saturday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Fonfara was dropped twice before coming back to score a knockdown of his own in the ninth round of his world title fight with WBC champion Adonis Stevenson (24-1, 20 KO). Fonfara rallied in the later rounds, but came up short as Stevenson won a convincing twelve round unanimous decision.
"Fonfara fought with one of the best, a top fighter in the division, the guy who was voted as the best fighter of 2013. [Fonfara] wanted to win this fight and he really tried to knock Stevenson out. Let's remember that Adonis is now 36 years old, and Fonfara is only 26. Andrzej is still evolving, and in two years he will be one of the best fighters in the world," Margules said.
