WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan told BoxingScene.com that there will not be any excuses if he loses to Marcos Maidana on December 11 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Khan sees it as the toughest fight in the 140-pound division, and even tougher than Timothy Bradley or Devon Alexander. Khan has hyped himself up to be a future superstar in the sport. He says a loss would break his career in America.
"I think Maidana is the best opponent I can have in the junior welterweight division. People said that I was afraid to fight him. I'm not going to argue with people. I'm going to get in there and let my fists do the talking and show them up. There are no excuses in this fight. This is a massive fight for me in the U.S. This is going to either make me or break me. And if I want to be the superstar and the champion that I say I am, then I have to win this fight," Khan said.
Khan says Maidana has a lot of heart, but that may get him additional punishment in the fight.
"He's a good fighter, don't get me wrong. He's got a lot of heart, but a lot of those fighters, who have too much heart, sometimes they get hurt," Khan said.
