Bolton star Amir Khan (31-4, 19KOs) is giving WBO junior middleweight champion Liam Smith (23-0-1, 13KOs) a very good chance to upset the odds when he faces Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (47-1-1, 33KOs).

Smith travels over to Texas, where he's defend his belt against Canelo this coming Saturday night from the AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The fight will be carried by HBO Pay-Per-View and BoxNation.

Canelo's last fight came against Khan in May, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Khan, a welterweight contender, moved up to a catch-weight of 155-pounds to face Canelo. While he was able to get off to a very good start in the early rounds, Canelo landed a single shot in the sixth to knock him out cold.

To prepare for that fight, Khan had used Smith as a sparring partner. Based on their sparring sessions, Smith had a feeling that Khan would be undersized for the fight.

Smith of the other hand is a solid junior middleweight contender. For Canelo, this will be his first fight at the junior middleweight limit since 2013. His last five fights have taken place at 155, which is one pound above the division limit.

"Liam is a natural 154-pounder fighter. He will definitely hold his own in there. I can see him having a good start and taking the confidence into the later rounds where he can do a lot of damage. He has a huge chance of causing an upset and I am right behind him," Khan told Daily Mail.
