WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan is hungry to get the interim king Marcos Maidana in the ring on December 11 in the United Kingdom. Golden Boy Promotions were attempting to make a match between Khan and Juan Manuel Marquez, but the Mexican veteran made a decision to remain in the lightweight division for a mandatory defense against Michael Katsidis on November 27.

In an earlier report on BoxingScene.com, Khan accused Marquez of pricing himself out of the contest. Once Marquez fell through, Khan went directly to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, and Golden Boy President Oscar De La Hoya, and made a request to fight Maidana next. And after Maidana, Khan wants a shot at WBO champion Timothy Bradley. Khan has picked Bradley to beat IBF/WBC champion Devon Alexander on their tentatively scheduled fight date of January 29.

"I spoke to Richard Schaefer, I spoke to Oscar, and I said, 'look, I want to fight Maidana.' I think he's the fourth-best junior welterweight in the division," said Khan. "Maidana, I'll take him and shut Maidana up. And from there, I want to fight Timothy Bradley, because I know that he's going to beat Devon Alexander in the new year coming."

Maidana has a fight scheduled on Saturday against former champion DeMarcus "Chop Chop" Corley at Estadio Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Distrito Federal in Argentina. The only thing that concerns Khan is the amount of money Maidana is requesting for the fight. The British boxer claims Maidana is demanding a big sum of money to make their fight happen.

"I think that Maidana would be a great fight for me. But the thing is with Maidana is that his team can't overprice the fight. I've had a few figures come in, and they're just way overpricing him. I can put money in it that he has never made that kind of money in his career, so why is he asking for that kind of money when he's fighting me," said Khan.

"If he's fighting me, he should be thinking, 'okay, I'll fight Amir Khan, because I know that I'll beat him.' If he beats me, then he can go and get more big pay days from big fights."
