MGM Grand, Las Vegas - Former champion Amir Khan (26-2, 18KOs) is more than ready to face WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (29-0, 12KOs) at the end of the year. On Saturday night at the MGM Grand, Bradley won a controversial twelve round split decision over Manny Pacquiao, recognized as one of the top two pound-for-pound fighters in the sport.
Khan is preparing for a fight with WBC 140-pound champion Danny Garcia on July 14th at the Mandalay Bay. Should he defeat Garcia, and he expects he will, he would like to move up in weight to face Bradley for the WBO title in December.
Last year there were serious negotiations to match Bradley against Khan. The discussions fell apart when Bradley rejected a lucrative seven figure offer and instead signed a promotional agreement with Top Rank, which eventually led to the Pacquiao fight.
Khan, who sat ringside for UK cable network Primetime, saw Pacquiao beating Bradley with a score of 116-112.
"I had Manny [winning] by four rounds. Hopefully I get Garcia out of the way and in December I'm ready. I offered him [a fight] at 140 and he turned it down twice. I'm ready for the fall. I'll take care of Garcia and clear out the 140-pound division and then move up. Let's do it in December 100%, let's do it," Khan told BoxingScene.com.
