In sure statement to the boxing public, lightweight prospect Amir Khan (15-0, 12KOs) proved that he's a solid contender and future star by blowing out Graham Earl (25-3, 12KOs) in only 72-seconds to retain his Commonwealth title at the Bolton Arena in Bolton.

A perfect left hook had Earl out on his feet in less than a minute, another left sent Earl down. The referee, Howard Foster, gave Earl a mandatory eight count when the fighter got to his feet. Once the contest was resumed, Khan attacked with two-fisted furry on a helpless Earl, forcing the ref to step in and stop the fight.

Earl, who fought a war with Michael Katsidis, was Kahn's toughest opponent to date and some felt the fighter would pull off the upset. The win answered a lot of questions about Khan's ability as a fighter.
