During a recent interview with Boxing Futures , WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan accused Tim Bradley, the WBC/WBO champion, of being a cheater and using dirty tactics to win his biggest fights. Khan returns on April 16 at the MEN Arena in a title defense against unbeaten European champion Paul McCloskey. If he wins, a tentative date of July 23 is in place for a fight with Bradley.
"Hopefully get McCloskey out of the way and then I want to move on and fight Bradley. He’s not got a fight coming up so I’m sure he’s waiting for me. It will be a good unification fight and show who the best in the division really is. HBO and Sky are very interested but right now my focus is just on Paul McCloskey because he is no dummy," said Khan.
Khan is confident about his ability to beat Bradley. He doesn't like how Bradley's head has come into play in several of his fights, accusing the unified champion of "cheating" his way to victory.
"Bradley comes in with his head and he’s strong at times but I think I’ve got the skills to beat him. I wouldn’t let him get that close to headbutt me, I’m sure he’ll try but that’s just his style and it’s got him so far at the moment. I go in there to box and I win that way. Some fighters have to cheat in a way and I think that he’s been cheating," said Khan.
