Unbeaten junior welterweight Breyon Gorham believes a win on Saturday could set up big fights with some of the big names in the division.

Gorham faces Yomar Alamo in the main event of a DAZN telecast at the Bayou Music Center in Houston.

In Gorham’s previous bout, he defeated Luis Feliciano in May in the first consequential step-up bout of his career. Gorham looks to build from that performance with lofty hopes. Now 20-0 (16 KOs), he awaits his moment to prove to the world what he believes he is.

“This fight could set me in a position to fight  Jamaine Ortiz, Liam Paro, or even George Kambosos Jnr,” Gorham said. “If it happens, it is good; if it doesn’t happen, it is okay. We are still on our way.”

“I am one of the great fighters,” Gorham told BoxingScene. “I am going to be a Hall of Fame fighter. I am not shying away from competition and fighting the best fighters on the planet.”

Gorham, a 24-year-old from Houston, will face veteran Alamo, 22-4-1 (13 KOs), who has already boxed Jamaine Ortiz, Richardson Hitchins, Liam Paro, and Delante “Tiger” Johnson. The catch is he didn’t beat any of them, but he did drop Paro in the first round of their fight. Gorham is out to prove that the 30-year-old Puerto Rican will have the same outcome when facing him.

“He lost to all of those guys, and I feel he is in my way,” Gorham said. “I feel that in my mind I am already one of the best fighters on the planet.”

Gorham reacted to Terence Crawford’s victory last weekend over Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, viewing him as a relatable figure and said Crawford was an inspiration.

“He is a guy that comes from my culture, where I come from; he comes from nothing,” Gorham said. “He just set the bar; that you can do whatever you want to do.”
