GUADALAJARA, Jal .- Mexicali's junior middleweight contender Alfredo "Perro" Angulo was present at Friday's weigh-in for tonight's fight between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Ryan Rhodes. Angulo, who returns on August 20 in Mexicali, will be sitting ringside to observe the fight, but he made it clear that he's not coming to the event for the purpose of challenging Alvarez. The WBC is going to reposition him in the rankings and he wants to earn his shot based on his achievements in the ring.

"I didn't come here to challenge Canelo. I'm not a boxer who tries to be controversial. I'm here to greet my friends and people who haven't seen me in a long time. I'm not here to look for an opponent. I'm not concerned with fighting him or Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. I will be reclassified by the WBC (due to a long period of inactivity). I believe I've earned my position based on merit," Angulo said.
