Amir Khan is slightly more than a 2-1 favorite over Devon Alexander, but Alexander doesn’t think Khan’s skills justify those odds.

The left-handed Alexander has studied Khan closely for years and just doesn’t believe there’s anything extraordinary about the British star he’ll encounter Saturday night in Las Vegas.

“I don’t see anything special in Khan,” Alexander, 27, said on a conference call Monday. “He’s a little fast … but you’ve got to have something else in your arsenal at the top level.”

St. Louis’ Alexander (26-2, 14 KOs) and the 28-year-old Khan (29-3, 19 KOs) will headline a four-fight Showtime Championship Boxing broadcast from MGM Grand in Las Vegas (9 p.m. ET). The winner of their 12-round welterweight fight figures to become a potential opponent pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. will seriously consider for his next fight sometime in the spring.
