Heavyweight contender Alexander Povetkin told the Russian newspaper Sport-Express what he was going to do in the fight with Wladimir Klitschko and shared his thoughts on his possible bout with Samuel Peter for the IBF interim title.

“I’ve never avoided anyone, - said Povetkin about his meeting with Klitschko. – "But I’ve also never cried: 'I’ll tear Klitscko apart!'

"I’ll fight whoever is necessary. If it is bout against Klitschko, I’ll gladly accept it. It’s the most interesting part for every boxer – to fight the best. And I don’t think that Wladimir will be favorite in this bout”.

Povetkin also shared his anti-Klitschko program. The Russian boxer thinks that with Klitschko it’s necessary to have solid defense and fight from a close range.

“You can’t let him use those long arms of his, - says Povetkin. – I’ve seen his last several bouts and haven’t noticed that his opponents managed to avoid his punches. Let’s take for example his last bout with Chagaev. There were moments when Chagaev literally stopped. And when he started to dodge he just seemed lost. But how can you endure the fight against 2-meter lamppost who throws his sledgehammers from the distance as he wants without dodging? Arreola boxed with Klitschko-senior and also didn’t dodge even once. I carefully watched this bout – he was taking punches thought the whole fight. You can’t do that against Klitschko”.

Povetkin’s possible opponent for the interim title is Samuel Peter. Alexander respects the Nigerian boxer but is sure that he can beat him.

“I’ve seen him in the ring, - told Povetkin. – I know that he is powerful, physically strong guy. I’ve talked to Jameel McCline who fought him and managed to throw his butt on the canvas thrice. Everybody says that Peter is a puncher, but I just haven’t noticed it. In the bout where Maskaev lost to him, Oleg probably was ill. Something was wrong with him. Peter of course is a good fighter but you can beat him. He has two arms and two legs, just like me”.
