Kevin Cunningham, trainer of IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander (25-1, 14KOs), advised BoxingScene.com that an x-ray showed that his boxer broke his fifth metacarpal bone on Saturday night in Atlantic City. Alexander suffered the injury in the first round of his TKO win over Lee Purdy. After seven rounds of a one-sided pounding, Purdy's corner pulled him from the fight.

Golden Boy Promotions is interested in matching Alexander against former 140-pound champion Amir Khan (28-3, 19KOs), who plans to move up in weight, on December 7th.

Cunningham tells BoxingScene that he read a quote where Khan made a claim that Alexander ducked him at 140-pounds.

"We never ducked Amir Khan at 140-pounds. We were never offered that fight, but he can sure get it at 147...that's for sure," Cunningham told BoxingScene.com.
