Former three time champion Joseph Agbeko (29-4, 22KOs) is hoping to land a crack at newly crowned WBC super bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz (25-0-1, 15KOs). This past Saturday night, Cruz destroyed Victor Terrazas in three rounds to capture his second divisional belt. Agbeko recently parted ways with promoter Don King and says his free agent status will allow for a speedy negotiations.

"I watched Santa Cruz on Saturday night and I may say he has improved. He fought a good fight and he looked very strong and confident in the fight. Santa Cruz is a strong and brave kid but I don't think he has fought the best yet. He has never been in a war like some of us that participated in the Showtime [bantamweight] tournament. I would like to appeal to Showtime and Golden Boy to make this fight happen. I am promotionally free right now and I would love to fight Leo Santa Cruz on any date Golden Boy has for him. I want to prove to the world that Santa Cruz is not untouchable. I will make him look bad. I will retire if Santa Cruz beats me," Agbeko said.

Agbeko, who lost twice to Abner Mares, says the Mexican boxer will bounce back after getting stopped in one round on Saturday by Jhonny Gonzalez.

"I think Mares got caught by a surprise punch and he couldn't recover quickly enough, but I believe he could have won that fight last night. Mares is great fighter and I believe so much in him," Agbeko said.
