As HBO heads into the rallying stretch of pre-fight coverage for its October 17 Pay-Per-View event, plans are becoming unveiled of content for its next big blockbuster affair.
The American cable giant will present ' 2 Days: Canelo Alvarez ', premiering October 24 on its flagship network. The segment will air at 12:15 a.m. ET/PT, immediately follow live coverage of Terence Crawford's super lightweight title defense versus Dierry Jean in Omaha, Nebraska.
Alvarez gets his first showcase on '2 Days' - a series the chronicles a 48-hour period in the life of an HBO boxer. The installment serves as the first pre-fight promotional piece offered by HBO ahead of its November 21 PPV headliner, in which Alvarez challenges World middleweight champion Miguel Cotto at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
The '2 Days' segment will cover a 48-hour period surrounding Alvarez' three-round destruction of James Kirkland in May. The bout marked the first fight back on HBO for the wildly popular red-headed Mexican following a five-fight stay on rival Showtime, with his return 'home' commemorated by a long-term deal with the network that allows him to alternate between PPV appearances and World Championship Boxing headliners, thus maximizing his marketability.
Replays will begin as early as Sunday, October 25, airing on both HBO and HBO throughout the four-week period leading up to the Nov. 21 PPV event. The full replay schedule is as follows (all times ET/PT):
