Andreas Evensen (17-3-1, 6 KOs) announced his return to boxing this week following a thirteen-month hiatus from the sport. The Norwegian fighter will make his comeback at the Nordic Fight Night on April 12th at the Blue Water Dokken in Esbjerg, Denmark against Kakhaber Avetisian (32-21-1, 15 KOs). ‘’Boxing is the sport I love,’’ said Evensen. ‘’But it took a break and a change of environment for me to rediscover my passion. Now I have it back, I realise that there is so much more I want to do and accomplish - I have unfinished business!’’

Rocky Fielding did himself few favours on Saturday, first losing his Commonwealth super middleweight title on the scales, then putting in a plodding performance in outpointing veteran Ghanaian Charles Adamu, despite a minimum 10 pound weight advantage. Fielding insists that he still plans to campaign at super middle, despite turning up on the scales a mere five ounces under the light heavy limit. He remains mandatory to challenge Paul Smith for the British title, but that fight is now looking increasingly problematic.

27-year old Norwegian featherweight Andreas Evensen, 17-3-1, has decided to retire. Evensen was last seen challenging EBU champ Alex Miskirtchian and was stopped in the twelfth and final round and while the fight was hardfought and relatively even - Andreas looked like the victim of a traffic accident at the end. Previously, Evensen won over Willie Casey in WBA I/C fight but was badly busted up in that fight as well.

Esbjerg, Denmark - EBU featherweight champ Alex Miskirtchian, 22-2-1, retained the title with a 12th and final round stoppage of Norwegian Andreas Evensen, 17-3-1. It was stopped at 2.33 Evensen as got up from a knockdown, he didn´t seem badly stunned but as referee Howard Foster looked at his face he called it off. Andreas looked as if he had been through a windmill - cut, swollen, bruised and part of the problem was poor cornerwork where the enswell seemed to be missing - and at the same time he wasn´t badly hurt but facial and visual damage also count.

WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns (35-2, 10KOs) will head for the north of Norway during January and it´s not a vacation trip. Burns, along with former British champion John Simpson, will spend a week in Melhus and spar with Andreas Evensen (17-2-1, 6KOs). Evensen is in training to take on EBU featherweight champ Alex Miskirtchian on February 9 in Esbjerg, Denmark.

WBA Intercontinental Middleweight Champion Patrick Nielsen (17-0, 8 KOs) will return to the ring on February 9 when the Nordic Fight Night hits Esbjerg. His opponent for the big boxing show at Blue Water Dokken will be announced shortly. “I look forward to fighting in Esbjerg,” the 21-year-old said. “I am now the number 4 in the new WBA ratings and I intend to climb even higher, so I need another spectacular win. I have big plans for 2013.”
