WBC lightweight world champion Mikey Garcia (38-0, 30 KOs) is pretty firm on his desire to secure a future showdown with IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence, who is currently competing 12-pounds north.

Garcia, a four division world champion, has captured belts at 126, 130, 135 and 140.

Last year, Garcia moved up to junior welterweight and dominated Adrien Broner over twelve rounds. And then he captured the IBF title at the weight in early 2018, with a decision over unbeaten Sergey Lipinets.

After winning the IBF belt, Garcia made a decision to vacate the strap and drop down in weight for a unification with IBF world champion Robert Easter.

The contest with Easter takes place on July 28th in Los Angeles, with Showtime televising.

But Garcia would like to move up to the welterweight division by the end of the year, and Spence is the top target on the list.

"We have got to get past Easter first but I have been mentioning that I want to move up to the welterweight division soon, maybe as soon as the end of this year," Garcia told Premier Boxing Champions.

"And I don't mind want to after just anybody, I want to go after a champion. If we can make it happen it is going to be against the top champion in the division right now. We have got Errol Spence who is the top man right now and that is who I would want to be in the ring with.

"I would want to share the ring with Errol Spence considering he is the top champion in the division. That is the only name that excites me that much."

Spence is slated to return by the end of the year. He already banked in two fights in the first half of 2018, with stoppage victories over Lamont Peterson and mandatory challenger Carlos Ocampo.
