BoxingScene.com recently spoke to WBO junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri who faces Manny Pacquiao on HBO pay-per-view on November 22nd.

The 30-year-old New York native has had a whirlwind 2014.  He rose from relative obscurity by beating Emmanuel Taylor on ESPN Friday Night Fights and followed that up by defeating Ruslan Provodnikov in his HBO debut.  That victory secured  the PPV showdown against Pacquiao that will net him a career high payday.

Many critics are giving Algieri, who again is a heavy underdog, little chance of defeating Pacquiao.  I asked him if he believes that is because he is still relatively unknown to many fans.

"That is exactly it.  People out there didn't know who I was or anything about me.  They didn't know who I am or what I bring to the table. This is how the sport works and we are ready for this.  You get your chance and you win and then you keep winning and keep moving up," Algieri stated.

Algieri insists that he isn't bothered by the fact that the fight is taking place in Macau which is an hour and ten minute plane ride from Pacquiao's homeland of the Philippines. He said that he plans on winning the fight round by round and that there won't be any doubt who wins the fights.

"Even if it is (close to his home) I plan on dominating the fight.  I don't want to leave anything in the judges hands.  I am going to dominate the fight from the beginning," Algieri told BoxingScene.com.
