  • Curtis Stevens intention was never to fight Golovkin, just piggyback off his name

    Its apparent Curtis Stevens goal was to piggy back off Golovkins name but not actually fight him, trying to get the image of a ducked fighter or avoided fighter, but this time Golovkin accepted the challenge and he backed out, his plan backfired, a lot of these type of boxers have made a name calling out name fighters but never getting the fight so they could claim that so and so ducked them.

    Stevens = fail

    and him showing that money is embarrassing, 300k for a no name is huge, even bigger name guys only get 400k to fight on hbo, this guy is a no name and his biggest purse was probably 20k.

      That's what I gathered as well.

      He was trying to use GGG's name to enhance his profile. Kind of a cheap tactic, but hey if it gets him more money in the future go for it. The pressure will now be on him to perform in every fight.

        Makes Golovkin look like even more of a badass. Some big mouth no name, with some highlight kos screaming he wants Golovkin. Golovkin says nothing, and promptly mails him a contract. No name screaming wanna be badass backs down..

          It actually worked kind of... but as soon as GGG called the bluff, he went back to being a pvssy

            yeah, he wanted to ride Golovkins name believing that GGG would say who is Stevens? or just ignore him because Stevens knew he was nobody, so he would just keep calling out GGG and than fight a scrub on NBC and ESPN and keep making money that way and gain some attention and maybe fight some washed up 160 pounders and get on HBO. He never thought GGG would actually accept his challenge lol.

            Stevens plan backfired big time. And GGGs people even gave him an offer a real fighter wouldn't refuse, yet Stevens refused it and will go back to making 15-20k a fight on NBC.

            Dude just got exposed, he wanted to get this legend as one of the avoided fighters that so and so was ducking, except his plan got ruined when GGG actually accepted the challenge.

            And like you said now he has to really perform big time, and he will have no choice but to fight GGG. Pricing yourself out when you got no name? lol this dude is clearly ducking.

              When people aren't stepping up to fight him and he has no opponent, there's a good chance he'll actually accept your offer.

              It's like poking fun at a bear in the zoo, then realizing the barrier between you and it was made out of plastic wrap

                  i dont know what ggg purse was but 300k is not alot for a big fight like that.after taxes he would have about 180,then after paying for camp,his trainer,and his manager he would likely be down to about 100k.i dont really think thats worth it even if its a career high purse

                    Golovkin is making the same for his past few fights. He only made 350 against Macklin and Macklin was far more deserving that Curtis is.
                    Curtis can always go back to NBC knocking out D level comp for 10k though
