**** Benn and **** Eubank just a bunch of English ******s who didnt have the heart to fight with the big boys in the US. The only tru real English fighter was Lennox Lewis, hes the only one who really was great. Why should have Roy Jones gone to europe to fight when he was the best? So he can get the same bull**** that Kostya Tyzyu, and Lamon Brewster got??
This doesn't tarnish Jones Jr's legacy.. WHAT LEGACY??

Benn defended his world title against Iran Barkley in Las Vegas and got him out of there in a single round. Benn defeated Gerald McClellan who was the most dangerous US fighter in the world.Originally posted by ottoevans**** Benn and **** Eubank just a bunch of English ******s who didnt have the heart to fight with the big boys in the US. The REAL Lewis was Ted 'Kid' Lewis, not ****ing Lennox Lewis!
Nigel Benn is the greatest English fighter since Ted 'Kid', no question about it.
Here's what Benn said in May 1995: "Roy Jones is a *****cat, Roy don't want no fight. I'd fight him in his backgarden"Comment

But after Benn's poor performance against Nardiello and RJjnr's awesome performance against Pazienza, Benn was made to rethink and then admitted that RJjnr was righteously 'the man' .. after the McClellan fight I think Benn was p4p no.2 .. but with Benn on the slide (he dropped outside top 5 after poor performances against Nardiello and Perez) he knew that all he could do was just throw everything at RJjnr for three or four rounds and hope for the best, and he DID want the fight ..Originally posted by JUYJUYHere's what Benn said in May 1995: "Roy Jones is a *****cat, Roy don't want no fight. I'd fight him in his backgarden"
Here are the quotes from Benn the following day after his fight with Nardiello-
Ian Darke: "The guy you would really love to fight is Roy Jones Jnr, but that is going to be a hard fight to make politically, you thinks he's number one."
Benn: "I dont mind being number two to Roy Jones and I would really really like to fight Roy Jones. He will frighten me, and thats what I need and he does that. But I'm not saying ooooooh I'm scared of him, but I will be up for that fight. I will be up for that fight like a mother, so please God, Don King, Frank Warren, I will fight him in his back garden, wait my back garden. I'd love to fight him, he is the only one who is gonna give me that real fear, Gerald McClellan never gave me no real fear. I'm talking about, this guy is really going to put the fear of God in me."
Steve Collins on Sky after the Benn II fight-
Ian Darke: "Now you have beaten Chris Eubank twice and now Nigel Benn twice, Who do you want now?"
Steve Collins: "The fight I've been looking for, for a long time is Roy Jones. But Roy Jones is running scared, he fights nobodies, he fights men with prison records not boxing records. If Roy Jones doesn't fight then people will remember him as the man who was afraid of Steve Collins. Eubank had a much longer unbeaten record than Roy Jones, just as much skill as Roy Jones, better names on his record than Roy Jones like Nigel Benn and Michael Watson, what Roy Jones has is speed and power but if I can withstand Nigel's best shots then I will have no problem withstanding whatever Roy Jones throws at me. And with me being the out and out forward punching pressure fighter I first used to upset Eubank and win every fight since, I think he knows he's better off avoiding Steve Collins. I'm a monster at super, Nigel's shots were bouncing off me, I'm not saying they didn't hurt because they did but I'm not doing myself any favours if I wanna fight Roy Jones, He's more scared."Comment

I said this before & I'll say it again. Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, or Stevie Collins couldn't & wouldn't move to Heayweight & try to defeat & champion even if John Ruiz was the current because they couldn't. I respect everyone's opinion but to downgrade Jones accomplishments & say that he doesn't have a legacy is foolish & that person couldn't even be considered a true boxing fan.Comment

Could you imagine Nigel Benn on steroids? That would be frightening!Originally posted by Knicksman20I said this before & I'll say it again. Steve Collins, for what it's worth, was winning Irish Heavyweight amateur titles at the same time as Jones Jr was winning Florida Flyweight amateur titles. No ****!Comment

I really don't care what Collins did as an amateur. Only what he did professionally. Jones wasn't on them for his fight with Ruiz so what's your point if you even have one?Originally posted by JUYJUYCould you imagine Nigel Benn on steroids? That would be frightening!

Im sorry Juy Juy but as much as u say the above - did these guys go up divisions and into heavyweight and win the world title. No they didnt.....Roy Jones achieved one of the greatest things in boxing by moving up to heavyweight and winning the world title - how this can be disputed i have no idea. Its not quite the same as winning the irish heavyweight amateur title.Originally posted by JUYJUYCould you imagine Nigel Benn on steroids? That would be frightening!
