That's business for you.Competitive advantage but then why not have an official investigation to see if GBP are engaging in anti competitive activities. At the Latin-American boxing convention in Cancun, Mexico, WBC president Jose Sulaiman spoke out against the relationship between Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions and cable network HBO. You know De La Hoya is retired for good when the WBC and Sulaiman go after him. Sulaiman feels the Golden Boy/HBO relationship is creating a boxing monopoly in the United States. According to Sulaiman, HBO is giving a bulk of their dates to Golden Boy, which creates a very unfair playing ground for other promoters, managers and fighters outside of the Golden Boy loop. yeah, GBP actually make fights happen.
look at Dibella and Berto, they fight all kinds of journeymen for him to fight and when they almost lost to Collazo, they take a step back and fight Urango. WTF?
GBP doesn't coddle their boxers, they put them in tough fights. They put JMM in against floyd. They put a Diaz in against JMM and Diaz's tune up was against Katsidis.Comment

Of course Jose' Sillyman is going to say this about Golden Boy...GBP was concieved not only to make Oscar rich, but to also combat the underhanded dealings that the WBC and other thieves, (I mean sanctioning bodies), have grown fat and wealthy on, largely unopposed.Comment

That would be a dream come true....lol, Sulaiman is a *****. he is ****ing up boxing. Golden Boy is the best thing for boxing's future. Hopefully Golden Boy can get enough boxers on their side to create their own promotion like UFC and use the Ring title as the ONLY title that matters.
but I do realize that I am just dreaming in colors.
Suliman is a corrupt scumbag, I hope Oscar and Golden Boy take over boxing and give the public what it has always asked for, great fights!!Comment

At first I was about to agree with Sulaiman, but I remember now that about 3 top elite fighters had to give up their WBC belts recently because he doesn't want unified champions??? He is ****ing nuts!!! Then I see the breakdown of actual fights on HBO and it just proves that he is a HATER! He is the ******* here, not GBP...The fighters come to them because they are run by fighters and for fighters, so they feel more comfortable with them as they understand what they are going through, unlike people like Arum and DK that use fighters like a racehorse. Not that I dislike DK and Arum because I give them the utmost respect, but I am just going by my observations over the years. If I were a pro boxer, I would go to GBP...not because they have more HBO deals, but because I would feel like they would treat me better and look out for my best interests more than the others...
The WBC is going to lose their prestige if they keep doing the dumbness!Comment

I think the real issue is HBO, Golden Boy getting the majority of dates purported by Sulaiman, is a symptom of a problem; hence not the problem.
Apart from that issue, what hurts fighters and matchmaking worse...Golden Boy monopolizing tv dates, or sanctioning fees that prevent unification bouts from taking place?Comment
