WBC and Sulaiman Prepare For War With Golden Boy, HBO

At the Latin-American boxing convention in Cancun, Mexico, WBC president Jose Sulaiman spoke out against the relationship between Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions and cable network HBO. You know De La Hoya is retired for good when the WBC and Sulaiman go after him. Sulaiman feels the Golden Boy/HBO relationship is creating a boxing monopoly in the United States. According to Sulaiman, HBO is giving a bulk of their dates to Golden Boy, which creates a very unfair playing ground for other promoters, managers and fighters outside of the Golden Boy loop. Big Poppa, do you think Oscar is monopolizing boxing? I think he's just a smart bussiness man that has a good eye for fighters and wants to give people good fights. He does kinda hog HBO but this is a business and GBP does the best cards.

lol, Sulaiman is a *****. he is ****ing up boxing. Golden Boy is the best thing for boxing's future. Hopefully Golden Boy can get enough boxers on their side to create their own promotion like UFC and use the Ring title as the ONLY title that matters.

but I do realize that I am just dreaming in colors.

HBO gives alot of their dates to goldenboy, there was an enourmous article on this that MrPain posted about a year ago on this subject, mostly how HBO gives goldenboy dates and pays too much to have them while other promotions get left in the dark (i.e top rank). but the WBC is no better, thus, i really dont care.

actually no they dont, top rank actually has better matchmaking even if they dont have all of the best names. goldenboys ppvs tend to be terrible with exception to the main event

LOL.....****ing old frog should shut the **** up.......

                  lets see:

                  HBO boxing 09

May 30, 2009 Andrew Berto vs Juan Urango ----DBE
May 9, 2009 Chad Dawson vs Antonio Tarver ------GSP
                  May 2, 2009 Manny Pacquiao vs Ricky Hatton-------Top Rank/GBP
Apr. 25, 2009 Juan Manuel Lopez vs Gerry Penalosa--------Top Rank
Apr. 11, 2009 Winky Wright vs Paul Williams------- Goosen Tutor/GBP
Mar. 7, 2009 James Kirkland vs Joel Julio -----GBP
Feb. 28, 2009 Juan Manuel Marquez vs Juan Diaz------- GBP
                  Feb. 14, 2009 Nate Campbell vsAli Funeka--------DKP
                  Jan. 24, 2009 Antonio Margarito vs Shane Mosley-------Top Rank/GBP
Jan. 17, 2009 Andre Berto vs Luis Collazo------DBE

HBO has had 10 dates........GBP has only been involved in 5, and has only been the lone promoter in 2....Top Rank was most likely the dominant promoter in both of their combined promotions, and while GBP was the dominant promoter in their co-promotion with Goosen, it was a showcase for 2 Goosen fighters....

TOP RANK has been involved in 3, being the lone promoter in 1(and like i said, most likely the most dominant in both of their co promotions with GBP)

DBE(DiBella) has been the lone promoter in 2+an undercard

GSP(Shaw) has been the promoter in 1+an undercard

DKP(Don King) has been the promoter in 1, but he only showcased his own fighters in the main event, the undercard was a showcase for GSP(angulo) and DBE(Martinez-Cintron) fighters.

Goosen Tutor was co-promoter in 1 date

pretty normal, considering GBP and Top Rank have the best fighters...if anything, DBE is the one that kinda gets better than normal treatment.

Funny how Suliman didn't say jack **** when Don King had a monopoly on Showtime and was feeding them Fabrice Tiozzo and Keith Holmes for all those years.
