Former super middleweight champion Carl Froch, who retired last year, has called for an age limit on boxing after watching last December's brutal knockout of Roy Jones Jr.

Parts of America may be snowed under at the moment, but here in the U.K. the weather is surprisingly mild and the early-January boxing freeze is showing signs of thawing as fights are getting made, claims are flying about and former fighters are still hitting the headlines.

Retired world champion Carl Froch is predicted that James DeGale would win "quite comfortably" if a rematch was put together with George Groves (21-3, 16KOs) later in the year.

IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch was very impressed with Anthony Joshua's ability to survive a shaky moment in the fight when he was wobbled in the second round of his December 12th grudge match with Dillian Whyte. The hard punching heavyweight raised his record to 15-0, 15KOs when he stopped Whyte in the seventh round.

Retired former world champion Carl Froch believes David Haye (26-2, 24KOs) is coming back to the sport at the right moment.

Former WBC/IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24KOs) is still very much in retirement. Froch's last fight was in May 2014, when he knocked out George Groves before a crowd of 80,000 fans at Wembley Stadium.

2015 is closing out with a new heavyweight king. For the better part of the last ten years, brothers Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko controlled the heavyweight division and had a firm grasp on the major titles. A new age is coming. Vitali retired two years ago and last month Wladimir suffered defeat for the first time in over ten years, when Tyson Fury (25-0, 18KOs) stunned him with a twelve round unanimous decision to capture the WBO/IBO/IBF/WBA titles.

On November 28th in Canada, IBF super middleweight champion James DeGale retained his title, via twelve round decision, in a tough fight with former beltholder Lucian Bute. Bute put in his best performance since getting knocked out in five rounds by Carl Froch in May of 2012. Froch was ordered to defend the IBF title against DeGale earlier this year. He vacated the title and later retired from the sport. DeGale would go on to decision Andre Dirrell to capture the vacant IBF belt.

BoxingScene.com and other members of the media recently caught up with former light heavyweight kingpin Jean Pascal. The 33-year-old is set to face IBF/WBO/WBA light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev in a rematch on January 30th in Montreal, Quebec. The fight will be broadcast by HBO. Kovalev is known as a strong puncher, but according to Pascal the feared Russian banger is the second hardest puncher he has faced.

Anthony Joshua needs more learning fights before a big domestic clash with David Haye, according to Carl Froch. The exciting heavyweight came through the toughest test of his career against Dillian Whyte, recovering from a torrid second round before knocking out his bitter rival with a big uppercut, live on Sky Sports Box Office. Haye, working as a Sky Sports expert, praised Joshua for passing a 'gut check' while battling to his 15th straight stoppage win.
