Froch Feels Amir Khan Would Do a Job on Pacquiao

Retired former super middleweight champion Carl Froch is picking Amir Khan to do a job on ex-sparring partner Manny Pacquiao - if the two of them ever face each other in the ring. Pacquiao was expected to announce his April 9th opponent last night, but held off on that decision until a later date. Industry insiders believe he will face WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley in a trilogy fight. Bradley is still viewed as the frontrunner, but Khan and undefeated WBO 140-pound champion Terence Crawford are the other two fighters in the running.

Froch: Golovkin's Promoter Showed Little Interest

At this point, former super middleweight champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24KOs) is unlikely to return to the ring. Froch retired earlier this and last fought in May of 2014, when he knocked out George Groves before a record crowd of 80,000 fans at Wembley Stadium. Froch was considering the idea of returning to the ring, in a catch-weight fight with middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin. There were discussions to make a Froch-Golovkin fight earlier this year before the Nottingham fighter announced his retirement.

Former super middleweight champion Carl Froch says promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions seemed intimidated when they met face to face at Saturday's huge event in Dusseldorf, where Tyson Fury upset Wladimir Klitschko for the heavyweight titles. Froch spoke to Loeffler about facing middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin at a catch-weight. He believes Loeffler realized the size difference and made up his mind that a fight with Golovkin was a bad idea. The two sides were negotiating earlier this year before Froch announced his retirement from boxing.

Former super middleweight champion Carl Froch believes Wladimir Klitschko is making a very big mistake in exercising his right to an immediate rematch with Tyson Fury. Last Saturday night in Dusseldorf, Fury pulled off an upset win that rocked the boxing world, when he won twelve round unanimous decision over Klitschko to capture the WBO/IBO/WBA/IBF heavyweight titles. Klitschko was undefeated for over a decade and champion for nearly that length of time.

Former super middleweight champion Carl "The Cobra" Froch is not inspired to return to the ring for a domestic showdown with current IBF beltholder James DeGale. At the start of the year, DeGale was the mandatory challenger to Froch, who had the IBF belt around his waist. Froch expressed no interest in facing DeGale and elected to vacate his title. DeGale later won the vacant belt with a tough decision over Andre Dirrell, who a few years ago nearly derailed Froch in the Super Six Tournament.

The fight was being negotiated a few months ago. Before a deal could get reached, Froch announced his retirement.
