BoxingScene.com and other members of the media recently caught up with former light heavyweight kingpin Jean Pascal. The 33-year-old is set to face IBF/WBO/WBA light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev in a rematch on January 30th in Montreal, Quebec. The fight will be broadcast by HBO.
Kovalev is known as a strong puncher, but according to Pascal the feared Russian banger is the second hardest puncher he has faced.
"[Kovalev] is second. The most powerful man was Carl Froch and then I would put Kovalev," said Pascal.
Froch and Pascal fought a war for the vacant WBC super middleweight title in December of 2008. Froch, who announced his retirement earlier this year, won a twelve round unanimous decision.
Kovalev stopped Pascal in eight rounds back in March.
When asked to rank Kovalev's power on a scale of 1 to 10, Pascal stated, "8.5."
