Hungary’s former WBO light heavyweight champ and WBC cruiserweight champion Zsolt Erdei, now 51 years old, returned on December 20 in Budapest and fought a draw with compatriot Attila Vegh, who was making his pro debut after a successful career in MMA.

Erdei moved well, used jabs and uppercuts, hurt his foe a couple of times but the fight was way far from being finished prematurely. Scores were announced in Hungarian. BoxingScene had it 100-90 - for the Hungarian master.
Felix-Promotion´s show in Kecskemet on March 8, where former WBO light heavyweight and WBC cruiserweight king Zsolt Erdei (33-1) says farewell with a fight for the vacant WBO Euro title against Georgian Shalva Jomardashvili (36-6-2), will be the biggest boxing event in Hungary since Erdei and now retired super middleweight Karoly Balzsay headlined a Universum show in Budapest back in 2007.

Felix-Promotion headed by Felix Racz promotes the show. Erdei´s last fight was in March of last year when lost a split and disputed decision to Denis Grachev for the sole loss in his career. Zsolt turned pro in 2000 after participating in the Olympic games 1996 and 2000 representing Hungary.

New York, NY - Former light heavyweight and cruiserweight world champion Zsolt Erdei (33-1, 18KO's) isn't looking for any easy fights after suffering his first professional defeat in a razor-thin and questionable split decision loss to Denis Grachev in the first leg of the Monte-Carlo Million Dollar Super 4 Tournament. Erdei is instead offering up his services to super middleweight kingpin and ESPN.com's pound-for-pound number two-ranked fighter in the world, Andre Ward. Ward, who is coming off a shoulder injury and extensive rehab, hasn't fought since scoring a 10th-round TKO over Chad Dawson in September of last year. Erdei says he has no problem in moving down to super middleweight and would jump at the opportunity.
Denis Grachev threw 400 more total punches and had a 118-60 edge in power shots landed. Zsolt Erdei was more efficient, landing 34% of his total punches, but avg'd just 36 punches thrown in rounds three thru eight.
