Yuri Kashinskiy: record, next fight and profile →
Several boxing events took place in June and July in Russia, some featuring formerly (and/or) presently world-rated fighters. Here’s the summary of the most notable past events and some announcements.
RCC Boxing Academy, Ekaterinburg - Young light heavyweight gun Vasiliy Voytsekhovsky improved his record to 8-0, with 4 KOs, scoring the best win of his young career - a unanimous decision over 39-year old veteran Denis Grachev over eight rounds.
Two cruiserweights with almost identical records of 20-1, differing only in the number of kayos, collided in Warsaw, Poland, and younger yet more experienced local hero Michal Cieslak came out as the quick winner, stopping Russian import Yuri Kashinskiy in the very first round. The fight was billed as an IBF cruiserweight eliminator.
WBA super cruiserweight champion Arsen Goulamirian (26-0) is sidelined with a rib injury and his defense against Russian Yuri Kashinsky (19-1) is off, reports l'Equipe.
EC Boxing in Hamburg put together a three-fight show at their almost empty gym with heavyweight Viktor Faust (4-0) headlining against Yakup Saglam (43-7). Don't let the record fool you but Saglam gave Faust a solid workout before he retired with a possible busted eardrum and didn't come out for the sixth and final round.
The heavyweight debut of former cruiserweight world champion Murat Gassiev, 26-years-old, has once again been pushed back. He was set to face American contender Jerry Forrest, scheduled for February 29 in the United States, as part of the Mikey Garcia and Jessie Vargas undercard.
Russia - Ruslan Fayfer got a solid rebound from his loss to Andrew Tabiti in the quarterfinal of the WBSS' second season a year ago by becoming the official challenger to IBF cruiserweight champion Yunier Dorticos.
This coming Saturday will see a major local 200lb showdown between two relatively young fighters. An older one (yet undefeated and untested) is high-rated WBA/IBF #3, WBO #4 and WBC #6 kayo artist Yuri Kashinskiy (18-0, 16 KOs). His opponent is a once-defeated former Russian heavyweight champion and now cruiserweight contender Ruslan Fayfer.
WBA #7 Alexey Egorov (9-0, 7 KOs) continued his fast track to a world title shot with a quick demolition of hard-charging Germany-based Ukrainian Roman Golivaschenko (20-4, 18 KOs) in the third round.
Ekaterinburg Expo, Ekaterinburg, Russia - Hard-punching and entertaining but relatively unknown Russian cruiserweight Yurr Kashinskiy (17-0, 16 KOs) scored his eighth kayo in a row, annihilating hapless Argentinean opponent Juan Ezequiel Basualdo (11-3-1, 10 KOs) in the third round. Kashinskiy is rated #5 by the IBF, #7 by the WBO, #11 by the WBA and #13 by the WBC.
