Xander Zayas , the unbeaten prospect signed by Top Rank, feels his next fight against Demarcus Layton is clear evidence of his career advancement.

The Puerto Rican boxer has a record of 7-0, with 5 knockouts, while his opponent has a pro tally of 8-1-1, 5 KO's.

"That tells me we're getting ahead of the game," said 18-year-old Zayas told Sara Hernandez.

“The last opponent was 6-1. This one is 8-1-1. We are growing with our opponents. I like that a lot because it keeps me focused and makes me want to get into the ring and be prepared more."

In his last fight, held on February 20 of this year in the bubble that Top Rank created at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Zayas retained his undefeated record by unanimous decision.

For his part, Layton last fought on September 21, 2019, when he defeated Brandon Baue by technical knockout.

Zayas's engagement against Layton will be on April 24 at Silver Spurs Arena, in Kissimmee, Florida.

That fight will be part of the card that will showcase his compatriot Christopher 'Pitufo' Diaz, who will challenge Mexico's Emmanuel 'Vaquero' Navarrete for the featherweight title (126 pounds) of the World Boxing Organization (WBO). Likewise, Puerto Rican puncher Edgar 'The Chosen One' Berlanga will see action against Demond Nicholson in a fight scheduled for eight rounds in the super middleweight division.

Puerto Rican fighters Orlando Gonzalez, Henry Lebron and Josue Vargas will also fight on the card.
