Aaron Bowen will be back in the ring next month.

The Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, who competed in Birmingham last year, made his professional debut earlier this year.

Bowen, 24, took on Mathieu Gomes over six scheduled rounds, as part of the supporting cast to Mauricio Lara’s sensational seventh-round win over Leigh Wood at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham.

The talented, hard-hitting Coventry man didn’t take very long to make a dent in his opponent as a left hook to the body sent the Frenchman to the canvas, writhing in pain.

The referee, Kevin Parker, counted the visitor out for 10 and the ending was called at just one minute and 35 seconds of the opening round.

And Bowen will get the opportunity to produce a similar display in his next outing on May 27, having been revealed as an addition to the supporting cast of the rematch between the aforementioned duo of Lara and Wood, who once again clash for the WBA belt in the 126-pound division.

Jack Catterall, the man who was on the wrong end of a controversial decision against Josh Taylor back in February 2022 when the pair clashed for the WBA Super, IBF, WBO and WBC world titles in the 140-pound division, will be back in the ring against Darragh

Foley on the card, while Kieron Conway meets Linus Udofia in an official eliminator for the British middleweight title and Danny Ball faces Anthony Tomlinson for the vacant English welterweight crown.

Campbell Hatton, who boxed twice in three weeks recently, looks to add to his 11-0 ledger after a career-best display to date last time out and Aqib Fiaz will be in action for the second time this year as William Crolla, the younger brother of former WBA lightweight world champion Anthony Crolla, embarks on a new journey in the paid ranks.
