Wladimir Klitschko: record, next fight and profile →
Controversy has swirled at every turn - from the purse bid canceled at the 11th hour, to a delay due to injury, down to fight week craziness highlighted by disputes over gloves and even ring surface. Through it all, we finally have a fight as Wladimir Klitschko collides with Tyson Fury in a battle of massive-sized heavyweights Saturday evening at ESPRIT Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Hughie Fury has been told that his ring return is to be pushed back a week after several days of confusion. The heavyweight prospect had been set to feature on the undercard of his cousin Tyson’s world heavyweight title challenge against Wladimir Klitschko in Germany tonight.
With just a few hours to spare before the opening bell, it appears that all matters have finally been resolved for Saturday's World heavyweight championship contest. Tyson Fury has stood firm on what he believes are his rights heading into his mandatory title shot versus reigning heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko. The latest hiccup came on the morning of the fight - which will air live on RTL in Germnay, Sky Sports in the United Kingdom and HBO in the United States - when Team Fury took issue with the spongy ring mat that K2 Promotions planned to use for the title fight.
Tyson Fury has arrived in shape for the biggest fight of his career. Fury stepped on the scales on Friday afternoon in the city of Essen, a decent drive northeast of the stadium in Dusseldorf where tens of thousands of people will watch the undefeated contender challenge heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko on Saturday. Fury came in at 246.4 pounds, while Klitschko was 245.3 pounds.
Tyson Fury invoked the spirit of Muhammad Ali and Buster Douglas as he declared that he could pull off one of heavyweight boxing's great sensations by ending Wladimir Klitschko's seemingly eternal reign as world champion. In Saturday's bout at Duesseldorf's football stadium, Fury, the British challenger named after Mike Tyson, will be a long-odds outsider to defeat the Ukrainian who has ruled the impoverished global heavyweight scene for a decade.
Undefeated British heavyweight Tyson Fury is ready to beat the odds and has promised to put IBO/WBO/WBA/IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko of Ukraine to sleep in the sixth round. Fury has done most of the talking leading up to his heavyweight battle with Klitschko in Dusseldorf, Germany on Saturday in a fight to be telecast in the Philippines by Fox Sports.
Tyson Fury is ready to beat odds of "seven billion to one" by snatching the world heavyweight title from Wladimir Klitschko. Fury faces Klitschko for the Ukrainian veteran's WBA, WBO and IBF titles in Dusseldorf on Saturday and the 27-year-old insists he will succeed where 19 previous challengers failed. It is a tall order for the 6ft 9ins Mancunian but he believes he is just one win away from achieving his destiny.
Tyson Fury took one last look into Wladimir Klitschko's eyes before they meet in the ring as they weighed in just a pound apart ahead of Saturday's world heavyweight title showdown. The British challenger came in at 246.4 pounds, his lightest in three years, while WBA, WBO, IBO and IBF champion Klitschko was a pound lighter at 245.3 pounds. Klitschko had been expected to be leaner and lighter than usual for this bout but will actually be more than four pounds heavier than in his last fight against Bryant Jennings.

British heavyweight Tyson Fury, who challenges Wladimir Klitschko on Saturday, is the living embodiment of Mickey O'Neil, the unhinged gypsy boxer played by Brad Pitt in Guy Ritchie's 2000 film 'Snatch'. Fury's clash with Klitschko, initially slated for October 24, was postponed after the 39-year-old WBA, IBF, IBO and WBO title-holder tore a tendon in his calf. It has given Fury, the 27-year-old showman from the gypsy community with the most evocative name in boxing, an extra month to raise the temperature around the ice-cold Ukrainian.
