IBF featherweight world champion Josh Warrington was way too much for French challenger Sofiane Takoucht at Leeds Arena.
Unlike his last fight, which was a boring decision win over mandatory challenger Kid Galahad, Warrington came out firing bombs to the head and body, and blew right threw Takoucht in two rapid rounds.
After dropping Takoucht to the canvas twice with heavy punches, the referee had seen enough after Takoucht stood up and was getting battered by punches.
Warrington is hoping to face the best opponents possible - like WBC champion Gary Russell Jr. or WBA "regular" champion Can Xu.
Former targets Leo Santa Cruz and Oscar Valdez are both moving up in weight to 130-pounds.
"[Santa Cruz and Valdez], they've moved on. Gary Russell Jr is kicking about. There's Can Xu, who's the WBA regular champion; he might get promoted to super champion. Shakur Stevenson's going to be fighting for WBO, so I'm leaving my options open and if anyone wants it, I'm here," Warrington said.
"[Can Xu is] a fantastic champion. Gary Russell Jr only comes out once a year, but if Can Xu wants a fight, here I am."
And Warrington has no issue by jumping on a plane to fight someone overseas.
"Everyone's got their passports at the ready," Warrington said. "We made history at Elland Road, Leeds' first ever world champion. It'd be nice to be Leeds' first unified world champion at Elland Road, then after that we'll go travelling all over, we'll go on tour."
Warrington's promoter, Frank Warren, wants to get his man a unification in 2020.
"Josh Warrington has made it clear I must deliver a unification fight for him and I intend to do just that in 2020. We had a deal with Oscar Valdez almost done before he vacated his WBO featherweight title to move up in weight. Leo Santa Cruz didn’t want to know, so that left us slightly out in the cold," Warren said to Metro UK.
"To go back to Elland Road next year we have to have a second world title on the line. WBC champion Gary Russell Jr is a possible opponent, but the problem with him is he only fights once a year. There’s also the option to move Josh up in weight."
