Mielnicki-DeLomba December 25 PBC on Fox Main Event Averaged 1,865,000 Viewers

The final televised boxing card of the year in the United States returned favorable ratings and perhaps the start of a new tradition. A special Christmas evening edition of PBC Fight Night on Fox averaged 2,726,000 viewers, the best figure in the series’ six-year history on the free-to-air network. The four-fight telecast peaked at 5,904,000 viewers, coming just after the 8:00 pm ET start time following a special Saturday edition of NFL on FOX between the Cleveland Browns and Green Bay Packers which averaged a weekend-best 28,588,000 viewers.

By Keith Idec- NEWARK – Vito Mielnicki Jr. appeared as if he would knock out Nicholas DeLomba during the third round Saturday night. DeLomba withstood Mielnicki’s all-out attack in that round, though, and seemed to benefit from Mielnicki punching himself out while trying to stop him during that sequence. DeLomba didn’t mount much offense in the seven ensuing rounds, not even as Mielnicki mostly fought passively off his back foot.

FOX will televise live boxing on Christmas night, an extreme rarity in the sport. BoxingScene.com has learned that the broadcast network, as part of its deal with Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions, has agreed to air a multi-fight card December 25 from Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Christmas falls on a Saturday this year and PBC must produce a certain number of shows per calendar year to fulfill its contractual obligation with FOX, which has exercised the fourth-year option to which it was entitled as part of a three-year deal it entered with PBC in September 2018.
