Viktor Postol: record, next fight and profile →
Selcuk Aydin has only one goal in his mind: The "Turkish Warrior" wants to become world champion. On May 17th he could make a huge step towards a world title when he faces unbeaten Ukrainian Viktor Postol in Inglewood, California. The winner of this WBC super lightweight eliminator will be mandatory challenger for unified WBC and WBA champion Danny Garcia.
Elite Boxing Promotions, the Ukrainian company guided by Stepan Chernovetskiy (the son of Kiev former mayor Leonid Chernovetskiy), has won the purse bid for a right to promote WBC light welterweight final eliminator between their protégé and WBC #1 rated Victor Postol (25-0, 10 KOs) and dangerous former world title challenger Selcuk Aydin (26-2, 19 KOs), who is rated #2 by the World Boxing Council. The Super WBA and WBC champion in this weight class is Danny Garcia (27-0, 16 KOs).
WBC #1 light welterweight Victor Postol (25-0, 10 KOs) capped off his finest career year tonight at the SportLife club in Kiev, Ukraine, with a bang. Postol, who tries to secure a fight versus unified champion Danny Garcia somewhere in 2014 (or, at least, compete for the interim crown), easily dismantled hard-nosed Uzbek journeyman Behzod Nabiyev (22-7-1, 16 KOs) over ten one-sided rounds. Nabiyev was down once in the fourth and twice in the tenth. Elite Boxing's official portal lists the official scores as 100-79 (on all cards), which is probably a joke, since Nabiyev was down only three times, not a dozen times. The Uzbek is 1-4 this year.
Top-ranked WBC light welterweight Victor Postol (24-0, 10 KOs) looks to close what was a great year for this undefeated prospect with a bang. On Dec. 26 #1 contender will try to get his fourth consecutive win in 2013 by taking on dangerously hitting Uzbek import Behzod Nabiyev (22-6-1, 16 KOs) in a scheduled ten-rounder. The fight takes place at SportLife Club in Kiev, Ukraine. Stepan Chernovetskiy of Elite Boxing Promotions stages the entire event.
Weights are set for tomorrow boxing card at SportLife Club in kiev, Ukraine, staged by Elite Boxing promotions. WBC #1 ranked light welterweight Victor Postol (24-0, 10 KOs) battles hard-nosed Uzbek Behzod Nabiyev (22-6-1, 16 KOs) over ten in the latest Ukrainian card this year. Victor Postol 142.9 vs. Behzod Nabiyev 140.9 – 10 rounds, light welterweights
The World Boxing Council has ordered a junior welterweight final eliminator between Selcuk Aydin (26-2, 19KOs) of Turkey and Viktor Postol (24-0, 10KOs) of Ukraine. The winner would become the mandatory challenger to current champion Danny Garcia. Aydin had been a welterweight for most of his career, but back to back defeats, to Robert Guerrero and Jesus Soto Karass, made the Turkish boxer rethink his career strategy and he moved down to junior welterweight in January. He won three straight at 140-pounds and holds the WBC Mediterranean title.
WBC #1 light welterweight Victor Postol is still in search for his first career title shot in a very talent-filled pool of fighters. Tuning himself for the ultimate challenge, Postol (23-0, 10 KOs), who is also rated #13 by the WBO, will risk his WBC International title on October 3 at the SportLife fight club in Kiev, Ukraine. No opponent is yet named but some local sources indicate that Columbian veteran Ignacio Mendoza (38-7-2, 23 KOs), who is on a five-fight winning streak, could very well be the possibility. Mendoza has the first-round road TKO over undefeated Ukrainian Vladimir Kravets (26-0) in 2011.
WBC #1 ranked light welterweight Victor Postol (now 23-0, 10 KOs) moved on with his busy schedule by getting a workmanlike decision over rugged Uzbek import Bahrom Payozov (21-3, 15 KOs) yesterday at the Sportlife night club in Kiev, Ukraine. Postol, 29, also rated #13 by the WBO, didn’t put much heart into what was his warm-up fight. He dealt with the limited Uzbek fighter by boxing on the outside, sharpshooting with his jab, adding combinations if necessary. Payozov was competitive and willing but couldn’t put his punches together or corner Postol, eating a lot of leather in return. Final scores were 80-72, 79-73 and 78-74 – for the Ukrainian stylist, who is waiting for his shot at 140lb elite. His biggest win has come this March against “Hammerin” Hank Lundy.
Elite Boxing Promotions, one of the leading Ukrainian boxing companies, will present its next card on May 29 at the Sportlife Club in Kiev, Ukraine. The main event will see another tune-up for the WBC #1 ranked light welterweight Victor Postol, who recently outpointed American challenger Henry Lundy in a tough fight. This time WBC international 140lb titlist won't put his regalia at stake but instead will face the Uzbek import Bahrom Payozov (21-2, 15 KOs) over eight rounds.
Two of the best Elite Boxing’s fighters, rising stars Victor Postol and Dmytro Kucher, are packing their luggage and targeting to land in Moscow, Russia, pretty soon. Both Postol and Kucher are invited by Russian promoter Vladimir Hryunov to take part both in his fighters’ training camp and in May 17 Moscow tournament, which is headlined by the Denis Lebedev vs. Guillermo Jones showdown. WBC #1 ranked Postol (22-0, 10 KOs) has last fought on March 21 in Kiev, when he outpointed American Hank Lundy in a very competitive clash for a vacant WBC international light welterweight title. Postol, 29, will help Russian lightweight Eduard Troyanovskiy to prepare for his upcoming collision (presumably versus former European champion Yuri Romanov). His fight on May 17 is scheduled for eight rounds. Postol is also ranked #14 by the WBO.
