The IBF has ordered an all-Filipino final title eliminator between unbeaten strawweight contender Christian Balunan and former WBO titleholder Vic Saludar.

The WBO’s latest ratings update – released December 27 – includes four new fighters who have been named the No. 1 contender in their respective divisions.

LOS ANGELES – Oscar Collazo proved his readiness for a 105-pound title shot in just his fifth professional fight Saturday. The Puerto Rican southpaw defeated former WBA and WBO minimumweight champion Victorio Saludar by unanimous decision in their 12-round WBA elimination match on the Ryan Garcia-Javier Fortuna undercard at Crypto.com Arena. Collazo (5-0, 3 KOs) dropped the Philippines’ Saludar in the seventh round, overcame a flash knockdown about 30 seconds later and beat Saludar comfortably on the cards of judges Raul Caiz Sr. (118-110), Rey Danesco (116-112) and Pat Russell (116-112).

LOS ANGELES – Ryan Garcia’s size advantage over Javier Fortuna was on full display Friday at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel.

The bulk of boxing is done for the year but a few struggles remain. Several took place this holiday week, with young talent in the spotlight on a Christmas night show on Fox.

The team behind Erick ‘Mini-Pacman’ Rosa made good on its vow to secure the rights to his next ordered fight. Terms have been reached for the precocious Rosa (4-0, 1KOs) to challenge secondary WBA strawweight titlist Vic Saludar, thus avoiding a purse bid hearing. The bout will take place December 9 at a venue to be determined in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Vic Saludar is back in the title picture. The squat Filipino is now a two-time titlist after barely outlasting unbeaten countryman Robert Paradero in a split decision to win a secondary WBA strawweight belt Saturday in Binan City, Philippines.

SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO - Wilfredo "Bimbito" Méndez became the new WBO champion at 105 pounds and ended the world championship drought on the Island by beating Filipino Vic Saludar by unanimous decision at the Puerto Rico Convention Center, in another edition of the series "Casino Metro Boxing Nights", presented by PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP) in association with Spartan Boxing.

Unbeaten bantamweight prospect Saul Sanchez (12-0, 7 KOs) makes his main event debut against Edwin Rodriguez (10-5-1, 5 KOs) this Friday, Aug. 23, from Omega Products International in Corona, Calif.
