WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is willing to seriously explore the possibility of staging a world title defense in the country of Australia.

Fury is currently in Australia to support close friend and former WBO champion Joseph Parker, who this Wednesday will face Faiga Opelu.

"I'm looking to do a fight here so I will be going up and down the country looking at different stadiums over the next few days. I'm 100 percent serious," Fury told Fox Sports.

Fury, 34-years-old, has been on the shelf since stopping Derek Chisora in their Trilogy fight in December of last year.

He was planning to step into the ring in April, in an undisputed fight with Oleksandr Usyk, but the two sides were unable to reach an agreement on the financial terms for their rematch.

Fury was then being steered to fight at Wembley Stadium on date in July. Two potential opponents fell out.

Former unified champion Andy Ruiz was requesting too much money. There was talk of securing Zhang Zhilei, but that option fell through when Joe Joyce activated an immediate rematch clause - looking to avenge a recent knockout loss to the Chinese fighter.

"I'm looking to fight some big fights this year and next year. We have an undisputed fight on the horizon for all the belts against Oleksandr Usyk. That has been in talks now for well over a year. There's also other big fights, so we're working on some possibilities at the moment," Fury said.

"We were supposed to talk about fighting Zhang but Joe Joyce has activated his rematch clause so them two will now have a rematch and maybe the winner will get a chance to fight me later on."
